In early June 2015 Zoom hooked up with Ryan and introduced him to the new Zoom Q8 which he has now fully intergrated into his setup. Recently we spoke to Ryan about his impressions on Zoom and the new Q8.
Zoom - Which product have you used the most and what have been their applications?
RVP - I have use the Zoom Q3HD since 2011 up until 2015. I am now using the brand new and even more impressive Q8. Both products have been absolutely amazing for recording all my Drum Cams, Front of House Live Cams and various video interviews I have done since 2011.
What are your thoughts on the Zoom products you have used, quality of sound etc?
RVP - The thing that really impressed me about the Zoom products was the reproduction of sound, video and how easy it was to setup and use. My acoustic drum kit sounds incredible in any live setting using the Zoom Q3 and Q8. The high, mid and low frequencies are a great duplication of how my drum kit actually sounds in a live environment, whether in the studio, rehearsal room or on stage. Reproduction of how my drums sound is very important to me when I post videos on Social Media. The video is equally impressive, especially in a live setting where it can stay in clear focus under any lighting circumstance. The quality of build is very solid and reliable. I’ve had my Q3 for nearly five years and nothing has ever gone wrong with it. I think all these attributes speaks volumes about the Zoom products and why I proudly endorse them.
Zoom - What are your thoughts on Q8, how do you feel it will improve the experience you offer online through video etc?
RVP - In my opinion, the Q8 is simply the best product out there for musicians to capture live sound from a video camera. Hands down. I’ve tried so many other companies and could never find the right balance between video and sound until I tried Zoom Products, especially the Q8. The Q8’s 120 degree X/Y Condenser Microphone is the best built-in microphone I have ever used to capture my drums from a video camera. It can record up to 24-bit/96kHz audio. It has XLR inputs for professional microphones if you want to enhance it further. The video options are amazing with 2304 x 2196 video recording and many options with FPS. Being able to hold a 128GB Card is invaluable as well. There are so many great things about the Q8 that make it a no brainer for any professional in the music industry. My YouTube page is a perfect example of what people think of my Zoom products….. I've received so many great reviews on the sound/video quality of my Drum Cams over the past 5 years. I can thank Zoom Products for that!
Zoom - Anything else you can think of that is relevent to anyone looking to use Zoom products?
RVP - If you want quality, professionalism and well built products, don’t look any further than Zoom!
